"Nissan has been holding a special campaign to get drivers to submit a suggestion for the ‘LEAF Wave.’ But thanks to a jab made by funnyman Stephen Colbert on his show, The Colbert Report, the campaign to find a hand greeting for LEAF owners has been extended to August 2.
Even though Colbert is a comedian, he made some valid points when discussing LEAF’s wave campaign. Colbert spent time running through the handshakes and gestures of the Jeep and Volkswagen Beetle drivers before vocalizing a point several people have been thinking. Colbert pointed out that the majority of LEAF owners, will not have the opportunity to try out the wave since there aren’t that many LEAFs on the road.
Of course, this will change but many people think that Nissan might be jumping he gun. On the other hand, this campaign has done just what Nissan wanted it to do, which is create publicity and buzz for the LEAF.
