"Trip Aubinoe is a commercial real estate developer with properties throughout the D.C. metro area. As of yesterday, he also owns the state's first Solar Power Pole, an electric vehicle charging station powered by solar panels that track the sun.
Aubinoe says as much as he'd like to take all the credit for the idea to install the unit, his kids get the props.
"Yup, I've got three teenagers ... that's why I have dark circles under my eyes," he says.
Aubinou admits not being very green friendly until just a few years ago. He manages lots of property and says going green presented challenges. But over time, his teens convinced him that setting up the state's first E.V. charging station would be a powerful way to go green.
"They basically told me, 'Dad, every person makes a difference, so if one person does something then other people will start doing it and it will make a big difference,'" he says.
The charger is outside Aubinoe's Wildwood Medical Center building at the corner of Old Georgetown Rd. and Rock Spring Dr. in Bethesda."
