"Even with the all marketing, publicity and promised production ramp-ups, the number of electric vehicles delivered to customers were down in February compared to the numbers reported for January.
The numbers are in and after tallying everything, the official sales for the Chevrolet Volt for the month of February was 281, the lowest month so far. In January, the Volt sold 321 units and in December the Chevrolet sold 326 units.
Unfortunately, the Nissan LEAF hasn’t done any better. Nissan sold 19 units of the LEAF in December, which was the first month of recorded sales. In January, that number increased to 87 units. Sadly, for the month of February the number of units dwindled to 67.
The overall number of plug-in cars in February was 348, which is down from 410 units in January. In total the Volt has sold 928 units and the LEAF has sold 173.
These figures have made consumers and some industry experts put these EVs on life support. These statistics are based off of productions and shipment of the LEAF and Volt. Once production finally ramps-up full speed, one can only hope that these numbers will increase. Consumers can only buy what is actually available to them, if these vehicles aren’t actually within reach, then of course sales reports won’t be stellar."
