https://www.ted.com/talks/simon_sinek_h ... ire_action

The prices of lithium carbonate in China, raw materials for lithium batteries, have accumulatively surged over 300% from 40,000 yuan per tonne early 2015 to 120,000 yuan per tonne in January 2016.
23/03/2016 in http://www.metal.com/newscontent/88593_ ... early-2015
BYD Co., China’s largest electric car and bus manufacturer, plans to obtain supplies of lithium to guard against spiraling costs of the raw material used in vehicle batteries, amid rising pressure on automakers to lower prices.
(...)
The prices of lithium carbonate -- a key element in lithium-ion batteries -- tripled in China last year and have continued to surge in 2016, according to Asian Metals Inc., an industry consultancy. Prices are rising as Chinese automakers step up their production of new-energy vehicles even as domestic lithium-mining capacity remains restrained
01/04/2016 in http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/ ... tery-costs
(...) That leaves battery makers and other end users of lithium largely at the mercy of the big providers.

In addition to Tesla, traditional car companies including Nissan and BMW operate in the burgeoning electric vehicle industry. Germany's Daimler recently announced that it would build a new lithium-ion battery factory, while technology firms like Samsung and Foxconn are also key users. As prices rise, they are keen to lock in deals.

Lithium carbonate is selling for $6,400 per ton, up from $5,180 in 2011. Prices in the opaque Chinese market are reportedly higher.

Tesla and other car manufacturers have been to Chile to see if they could ensure future lithium supplies, according to Ignacio Moreno, Chile's deputy mining minister. Tesla declined to comment on talks, but said it has signed three deals with exploratory companies outside Chile that would "not provide all" its lithium.

Battery makers "are looking for any source across the world that they can establish joint ventures with, no matter how risky they are," said Jaskula

http://www.greentechmedia.com/articles/ ... -Battery-M

Desse estudo, destaco apenas isto:
(...) An analysis by Motley Fool’s Maxx Chatsko looks at whether there is enough lithium supply to meet Tesla’s Gigafactory demand by 2020 and concludes that it’s unlikely that there will be enough increase in supply in the next few years to even support Tesla’s single factory, let alone the many, many other factories like it that will have to be built to meet demand if the EV revolution really gets underway in the next decade or two.

1- Elon Musk: "276k Model 3 orders by end of Sat"

2- "Think you might crack 500k with part 2?
Elon Musk: "Yes, if the trend continues, before"

3- Elon Musk: "Matte black was surprisingly popular. Probably makes sense to bring it to production."

4- Elon Musk: "There will be an optional tow hitch."

5- Elon Musk: "A Model 3 order gives you priority in your geography, so, even tho total count is high, ordering early will make a big difference locally"

6- "The lack of a dashboard/HUD is something that I don't think I could get used to. That's the only thing I don't like about the car."
Elon Musk: "It will make sense after part 2 of the Model 3 unveil"

7- "Really hoping back seats can fold down on the 3."
Musk: They can. Will be great for road trips and camping

8- "Suggestions: 1.Ferrari like steering wheel 2.Move stick functions(turn signals, horn, etc.) on a paddle shifter behind wheel. That would be cool!"
Elon Musk: "Wait until you see the real steering controls and system for the 3. It feels like a spaceship."

9- "needs better front design!"
Elon Musk: "Some tweaking underway"

10- "will I be able to hook in child car seats in the back seat?"
Elon Musk: "yes. Will easily fit two child seats. Three if you buy slim seats."

11- "Why did you choose that hideous steering wheel design? "
Elon Musk: "that's not the real steering system"

12- "Why small trunk lid instead of big hatchback like S&X? I ride a bike not a surfboard :) "
Elon Musk: "Only way to get enough rear passenger headroom was to move the rear roof cross-car support beam. A bike will still fit no problem.

Bem...o Elon decidiu fazer uma Q&A a todo o vapor...

Mas há várias coisas interessantes:

13- "I am concerned with the lack of mechanical service in Spain, I hope to be resolved before sales model 3 :)"
Elon Musk: "should be addressed this year"

14- "how many orders from Italy? Are you going to expand the supercharger network in northern Italy?"
Elon Musk: "Superchargers and service centers will cover all of Italy later this year"

15- "will you make determinations about where to put Superchargers based on amount of orders in an area?"
Elon Musk: "Yes"

16- Elon Musk: "Model 3 will be RWD, with dual motor AWD optional. Even RWD will have great traction on ice due to fast torque response of Tesla drivetrain. And, of course, it will have more cowbells."

17- "out of curiosity does the AWD do torque vectoring when detecting wheel spin?"
Elon Musk: "torque is shifted between front & rear motors every ~.01 secs. Traction control is way better than a normal AWD. Digital vs analog."

18- "~5k upgrade like on model S for dual motor? Or less since overall cost is lower?
Elon Musk: "less"

19- "Reveal cars were awd?"
Elon Musk: "yes, but production AWD will be a lot faster"

20- "What are the plans for charging stations in Ireland?"
Elon Musk: "Will cover whole country hopefully this year"

21- "will #model3 fit in small garages < 8' wide? If not can mirrors fold in for self-park?
Elon Musk: "no problem"

22- "British motoring press have no clue about our wait times? Will UK need to wait for a 2nd Euro Factory for Model 3?"
Elon Musk: "No, but we will need to build a factory in Europe to serve long-term regional demand as Fremont reaches max capacity."

23- "What is Model 3's aerodynamic coefficient???
Elon Musk: "hopefully 0.21"

24- "Considering Indian road condition, hope you've thought about customizing the ride height/ground clearance of m3 for India launch?"
Elon Musk: "Air suspension dynamically adjusts ride height"

As células...
